Biography

Dr. Todd Pizitz is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist in private practice in Vista, California. Working closely with persons afflicted with various addictions and challenges, he provides psychotherapy and psychological evaluations to adults, adolescents and families. Through his work as a clinical psychologist, he helps clients overcome struggles and develop better management of problems. Assessment and evaluation of clients’ needs is essential, and Dr. Pizitz works closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other agencies to determine how to best treat and care for his clients.

Dr. Pizitz was a P.O.S.T. certified peace officer with the Orange County Probation Department. He worked in juvenile supervision and has broad knowledge and experience in understanding juvenile and adult offenders and the concomitant mental health issues. Dr. Pizitz earned a Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego in 2001. He is a licensed psychologist who has been working in the field of forensic psychology for over twenty years conducting psychological evaluations for criminal, family, juvenile, civil, state, and federal courts. Dr. Pizitz was on staff at Children’s Hospital and Tri-City Medical Center. He was the clinical supervisor for the East County and North County Drug Courts and Pegasus East Dual Recovery Center. Dr. Pizitz was also the clinical supervisor for Interfaith Community Veterans’ Services. In addition to his working with County Probation, he was a Staff Psychologist for the Federal Probation Program. He was a San Diego County Probation and State of California Approved Sexual Offender Treatment Provider (CASOMB). Also, Dr. Pizitz was a Certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) recognized by the Department of Transportation (DOT). He is also a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) certified by the Association for Addiction Professionals. Additionally, Dr. Pizitz was the director of the County of San Diego Certified Domestic Violence Treatment Program (DVRP) offered at his office. Dr. Pizitz is the director of two United States Probation Department mental health clinics providing both mental health and substance abuse treatment to federal defendants and probationers. He is an Adjunct Professor at Alliant International University in the Clinical PSYD Department. Dr. Pizitz is presently a member of the Society for Personality Assessment (SPA), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA), the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA), and The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). He has co-authored three books and has published and/or presented over 50 research articles in either peer-reviewed journals and/or professional scientific meetings. He is a member of the Peer Review Panel for the Elsevier journal, Women and Birth.
